Tucked along the old Customs Pier in Angra do Heroísmo—a UNESCO World Heritage site, this geometric fountain sits beneath the Sea Doors, where a grand staircase descends from Rua Direita, the city's historic main street. The red and black stone bands ripple with water, their sharp lines mirrored in the shallow pool below. On this quiet, overcast morning, the soft light muted the bold contrasts, giving the entire scene a painterly calm. Though once built to serve arriving ships, today it reflects only stillness—an abstract moment at the edge of the Atlantic.
